A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

"The insurance code of 1956,"

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406kk.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 3406kk. An insurer that delivers, issues for delivery, or renews in this state a health insurance policy shall provide coverage for immediate post-partum intrauterine devices and contraceptive implants and associated anesthesia services. The coverage required under this section is in addition to a bundled reimbursement for labor and delivery, and an insurer described in this section shall not consider the devices, implants, services, or combination of devices, implants, or services to be part of a payment for general obstetric procedures.
