SENATE BILL No. 926

 

 

February 1, 2012, Introduced by Senators SCHUITMAKER, EMMONS and WARREN and referred to the Committee on Transportation.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

 

"Michigan vehicle code,"

 

(MCL 257.1 to 257.923) by adding section 811s.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 811s. (1) The secretary of state shall develop under

 

section 811e and issue under section 811f a fund-raising plate

 

recognizing go red for women. The secretary of state in conjunction

 

with go red for women shall design the fund-raising plates

 

authorized in this section.

 

     (2) The go red for women fund is created within the state

 

treasury. The state treasurer may receive money or other assets

 

from any source for deposit into the fund. The state treasurer

 

shall direct the investment of the fund. The state treasurer shall

 

credit to the fund interest and earnings from fund investments.

 


Money in the fund at the close of the fiscal year shall remain in

 

the fund and shall not lapse to the general fund.

 

     (3) The secretary of state shall transfer the donation money

 

from the sale of fund-raising plates recognizing go red for women

 

to the state treasurer, who shall credit the donation money to the

 

go red for women fund created under subsection (2).

 

     (4) The state treasurer shall disburse money in the go red for

 

women fund created under subsection (2) on a quarterly basis to the

 

American heart association.

 

     (5) The secretary of state shall be the administrator of the

 

go red for women fund created under subsection (2) for auditing

 

purposes.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect January

 

1, 2012.
