SENATE BILL No. 838

 

 

March 2, 2016, Introduced by Senators HOPGOOD, O'BRIEN, JONES, HERTEL and MARLEAU and referred to the Committee on Education.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1307i.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1307i. (1) Not later than the beginning of the 2017-2018

 

school year, the governing body of a nonpublic school shall adopt

 

and implement a policy for the nonpublic school that is consistent

 

with the state policy establishing a schoolwide positive behavioral

 

intervention and support plan under section 1307a.

 

     (2) To obtain the staff training required by the state policy

 

under section 1307a, as described in section 1307g, a nonpublic

 

school may request that training from the school district or

 

intermediate school district in which it is located. Upon request

 

under this section by a nonpublic school located in the school

 


district or intermediate school district, a school district or

 

intermediate school district shall provide that training.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.

 

     Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless all of the following bills of the 98th Legislature are

 

enacted into law:

 

     (a) House Bill No. 5410.            

 

          

 

     (b) Senate Bill No. 837.
