SENATE BILL No. 747

 

 

October 11, 2011, Introduced by Senators PROOS, KOWALL, MARLEAU, HOPGOOD and COLBECK and referred to the Committee on Health Policy.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1978 PA 368, entitled

 

"Public health code,"

 

(MCL 333.1101 to 333.25211) by adding sections 21334 and 21736.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 21334. (1) If medical or dental care is provided to a

 

home for the aged resident on the premises of the home for the

 

aged, the home for the aged shall have a private examination room

 

for the purpose of medical or dental examination and treatment.

 

     (2) An examination room required under subsection (1) shall be

 

used exclusively for the medical and dental examination and

 

treatment of residents, and shall be kept separate from common

 

areas, dining facilities, patient rooms, and restrooms. The

 

examination room shall have a door or other means of preventing the

 

entry of unauthorized individuals.

 

     (3) The department may promulgate rules or adopt guidelines


 

for examination rooms required under this section.

 

     Sec. 21736. (1) If medical or dental care is provided to a

 

nursing home patient on the premises of the nursing home, the

 

nursing home shall have a private examination room for the purpose

 

of medical or dental examination and treatment.

 

     (2) An examination room required under subsection (1) shall be

 

used exclusively for the medical and dental examination and

 

treatment of residents, and shall be kept separate from common

 

areas, dining facilities, patient rooms, and restrooms. The

 

examination room shall have a door or other means of preventing the
