SENATE BILL No. 658

 

 

June 25, 2009, Introduced by Senators SCOTT, CLARK-COLEMAN, BRATER, JACOBS, PRUSI, WHITMER and CHERRY and referred to the Committee on Economic Development and Regulatory Reform.

 

 

 

     A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

 

"The insurance code of 1956,"

 

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3406s.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 3406s. (1) An expense-incurred hospital, medical, or

 

surgical policy or certificate delivered, issued for delivery, or

 

renewed in this state that provides prescription coverage and a

 

health maintenance organization group or individual contract that

 

provides prescription coverage shall include coverage for any

 

prescribed drug or device approved by the United States food and

 

drug administration for use as a contraceptive.

 

     (2) Coverage under subsection (1) shall not be subject to any

 

dollar limit, copayment, deductible, or coinsurance provision that

 

does not apply to prescription coverage generally.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect January
