SENATE BILL NO. 604

July 27, 2021, Introduced by Senators MOSS, HERTEL, GEISS, BRINKS, ANANICH, WOJNO, BAYER, CHANG, POLEHANKI and MCMORROW and referred to the Committee on Elections.

A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

"Michigan election law,"

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding sections 484b and 956b.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 484b. An organization shall not employ an individual to circulate or obtain signatures on a ballot question petition proposing a constitutional amendment, initiation of legislation, or referendum of legislation if that individual has been convicted of an election crime, including, but not limited to, election fraud or forgery.

Sec. 956b. An organization shall not employ an individual to circulate or obtain signatures on a recall petition if that individual has been convicted of an election crime, including, but not limited to, election fraud or forgery.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days after the date it is enacted into law.
