A bill to designate February 4 of each year as Cancer
Prevention Day in the state of Michigan.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1. (1) The legislature recognizes that cancer is the
leading cause of death around the world and is the cause of nearly
1 out of every 4 deaths in the United States. During 2010, there
were approximately 55,660 new cancer cases in the state of
Michigan. The legislature recognizes the efforts of the Less Cancer
Campaign which works to raise awareness for the reduction of cancer
risks.
(2) The legislature declares that February 4 of each year
shall be known as "Cancer Prevention Day".
