A bill to amend 1979 PA 94, entitled
"The state school aid act of 1979,"
(MCL 388.1601 to 388.1896) by adding section 72.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 72. (1) In addition to the money appropriated under
section 11, there is appropriated for 2012-2013 from the general
fund the amount necessary to reimburse districts and intermediate
districts for providing transportation for pupils as provided under
this section.
(2) The amount of reimbursement to a district or intermediate
district under this section shall be calculated by multiplying
$0.50 times the number of miles traveled by school buses operated
by or on behalf of the district or intermediate district during the
2012-2013 school year for transporting pupils to and from school,
excluding miles traveled for extracurricular activities.
(3) In order to receive a reimbursement payment under this
section, a district or intermediate district shall report the
number of qualifying miles traveled as described in subsection (2)
to the department in the form and manner prescribed by the
department not later than July 1.
(4) Notwithstanding the installment payment schedule under
section 17b, reimbursement payments under this schedule shall be
made in 1 payment to be included with the August 20 installment
payment.
