HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 329
Reps. Morgan, McFall, Pohutsky, Dievendorf, Hoskins, Arbit, Breen, Rheingans, Tsernoglou, McKinney, Foreman, Xiong, Longjohn, Martus, Conlin, Fitzgerald, MacDonell, Young, Koleszar, Witwer, Wilson, Hope, Scott, Weiss, Wooden, Brixie, Price, Grant, Puri, Miller, Byrnes, Myers-Phillips, T. Carter, Glanville, Paiz, Andrews, Rogers, Wegela, Skaggs, Snyder, Edwards, Neeley, Steckloff and Mentzer offered the following resolution:
Whereas, The state of Michigan is home to a diverse population of residents whose varied backgrounds, identities, and experiences contribute to the strength and vitality of communities across the state; and
Whereas, Pride Month is observed nationally each June and serves as an opportunity to recognize the history, culture, and contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer individuals; and
Whereas, Pride Month commemorates the June 1969 Stonewall Uprising, a significant event in the ongoing story of civil rights in the United States; and
Whereas, Michigan residents who identify as LGBTQ+ are an important part of the state’s workforce, serving in fields such as education, health care, public safety, business, the arts, manufacturing, agriculture, and public service; and
Whereas, Families, neighbors, and communities across Michigan are strengthened by mutual respect, understanding, and recognition of the dignity of all people; and
Whereas, Michigan has long benefited from civic engagement and community participation that brings together individuals from all walks of life in support of the common good; and
Whereas, Observances such as Pride Month provide an opportunity to reflect on shared history, acknowledge contributions to society, and promote greater understanding among residents of the state; now, therefore, be it
Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare June 2026 as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer Pride Month in the state of Michigan; and be it further
Resolved, That we encourage all Michiganders to recognize the value of diversity in our communities and to join in acknowledging the contributions of LGBTQ+ residents to the culture, economy, and civic life of this state.
