House Resolution No. 266.

A resolution to declare November 12, 2013, as Mobility Awareness Day in the state of Michigan.

Whereas, Millions of people in the United States experience mobility challenges due to injury or illness; and

Whereas, Six million veterans suffer from mobility challenges; and

Whereas, A majority of these individuals unfortunately report that inadequate transportation and mobility options are a major problem in their daily lives; and

Whereas, Many people in the United States overcome mobility struggles on a daily basis; and

Whereas, People with disabilities can live an active mobile lifestyle; and

Whereas, Mobility benefits are available to veterans, the elderly, and individuals with disabilities; and

Whereas, Overcoming mobility struggles can be life changing for individuals who suffer from mobility hindering disabilities; and

Whereas, It is recognized that quality of life for those living with a disability is improved with full participation and access to community activities; and

Whereas, Increased public awareness can help people in the United States experiencing mobility challenges; now, therefore, be it

Resolved by the House of Representatives, That the members of this legislative body declare November 12, 2013, as Mobility Awareness Day in the state of Michigan.
