A bill to amend 1926 (Ex Sess) PA 14, entitled

"An act to authorize the board of supervisors of any county to create a sinking fund for the purpose of purchasing real estate for sites for, and constructing or repairing public buildings; to authorize such boards to submit the question of levying a tax to create such sinking fund to the electors of their certain counties and to provide for the manner of submission,"

by amending section 2 (MCL 141.52).

Sec. 2. Whenever If the county board of supervisors commissioners of any county shall by resolution vote in favor of levying a tax to create a sinking fund as provided in section 1, of this act, the question of levying such the tax shall must be submitted to the electors of the county at the general November election, the annual spring May election, or at any special election called for that purpose , subsequent to the passage of such the resolution by the county board of supervisors. commissioners. A copy of such the resolution shall must be served upon the sheriff of the county by the county clerk. It shall be is the duty of the sheriff at least 20 days prior to before the date of the election , at which such the question shall be is submitted to the electors, to cause to be delivered to the township clerk in each township, and to the city clerk in each city in his or her county, a notice in writing that at such the election there will be submitted to the electors of such the county the question of raising the amount prescribed in the resolution passed by the county board of supervisors, and to cause the same to be published in 1 or more newspapers printed and circulating in said county, if one be printed and circulated therein, at least once during each of 2 consecutive weeks before said election.commissioners. Notice of the election must be given in the same manner required by section 653a of the Michigan election law, 1954 PA 116, MCL 168.653a.

Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect unless Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No.6440 (request no. 02449'19) of the 100th Legislature is enacted into law.
