HOUSE BILL NO. 6348

A bill to amend 1968 PA 173, entitled

"An act naming certain state buildings,"

(MCL 19.131 to 19.133) by amending the title and by adding section 3a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

TITLE

An act naming to name certain state buildings and property and to provide for the powers and duties of certain state officers and entities.

Sec. 3a. (1) Beginning on October 1, 2022, this state shall not name, rename, or designate a state building or other state property after a business entity.

(2) If a state building or other state property was named, renamed, or designated after a business entity before October 1, 2022, this state must rename the state building or other state property not later than April 15, 2023.

(3) As used in this section:

(a) "Business entity" means a partnership, domestic or foreign corporation, nonprofit corporation, limited liability company, or any other association, corporation, or trust.

(b) "Other state property" means property or grounds, other than a state building, that is owned by this state or leased through a building authority by this state. Other state property does not include any portion of a highway named under the Michigan memorial highway act, 2001 PA 142, MCL 250.1001 to 250.2092.
