HOUSE BILL No. 6248

Chang, Sabo, Rabhi, Green, Geiss, Lasinski, Elder, Hertel, Yanez, Moss, Sowerby, Faris, Sneller, Zemke, LaGrand, Yancey, Cochran, Brinks, Chirkun, Singh, Durhal, Greig, Cambensy, Gay-Dagnogo, Wittenberg, Phelps, Hammoud and Jones and referred to the Committee on Natural Resources.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 399, entitled

 

"Safe drinking water act,"

 

(MCL 325.1001 to 325.1023) by adding section 11e.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 11e. (1) The lead abatement fund is created within the

 

state treasury.

 

     (2) The state treasurer may receive money or other assets from

 

any source for deposit into the lead abatement fund. The state

 

treasurer shall direct the investment of the lead abatement fund.

 

The state treasurer shall credit to the lead abatement fund

 

interest and earnings from fund investments.

 

     (3) Money in the lead abatement fund at the close of the

 

fiscal year remains in the lead abatement fund and does not lapse

 


to the general fund.

 

     (4) The department shall be the administrator of the lead

 

abatement fund for auditing purposes.

 

     (5) The department shall expend money from the lead abatement

 

fund, upon appropriation, only for lead abatement grants issued

 

under section 11f.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless all of the following bills of the 99th Legislature are

 

enacted into law:

 

     (a) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6243 (request no.

 

06187'18).

 

     (b) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6249 (request no.

 

06527'18).

 

     (c) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6244 (request no.

 

06530'18).

 

     (d) Senate Bill No.____ or House Bill No. 6245 (request no.

 

06531'18).

 

     Enacting section 2. This amendatory act does not take effect

 

unless the question provided for in the clean Michigan initiative

 

reauthorization act is approved by a majority of the registered

 

electors voting on the question at the next general election.
