A bill to amend 1998 PA 58, entitled
"Michigan liquor control code of 1998,"
(MCL 436.1101 to 436.2303) by adding section 706.
the people of the state of michigan enact:
Sec. 706. (1) An on-premises licensee
shall not hire a prospective employee to serve as a bouncer unless the
on-premises licensee does all of the following:
(a)
Conducts a background check on the prospective employee to determine whether
the prospective employee has had any criminal convictions or has any pending
criminal charges at the time he or she submits an application for employment.
(b)
Requires that the prospective employee demonstrate to the on-premises licensee
that the prospective employee has all of the following core values, as
determined by the on-premises licensee:
(i) Honesty.
(ii) Good character.
(iii) Public trust.
(iv) Fair treatment of others.
(v) Respect for the laws of this state
and this nation.
(2) As used in this section, "bouncer" means an individual who is employed by an on-premises licensee to provide security and to eject disorderly individuals.
