HOUSE BILL No. 5875

 

September 11, 2012, Introduced by Rep. Heise and referred to the Committee on Redistricting and Elections.

 

     A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

 

"Michigan election law,"

 

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 558a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 558a. If a candidate files nominating petitions for a

 

federal, state, county, city, township, village, or school district

 

office, the candidate shall file with the officer with whom the

 

nominating petitions are filed a signed affidavit attesting to the

 

fact that the candidate has reviewed the signatures on the

 

nominating petitions and that to the best of his or her knowledge

 

the signatures on the nominating petitions were collected in

 

accordance with state law and are valid.
