     A bill to amend 1956 PA 218, entitled

 

"The insurance code of 1956,"

 

(MCL 500.100 to 500.8302) by adding section 3157a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 3157a. (1) An individual who provides attendant care to

 

an injured person for an accidental bodily injury covered by

 

personal protection insurance and who is a relative of the injured

 

person is entitled to be paid the average customary wage of a

 

direct care worker or the state minimum hourly wage rate determined

 

under section 4 of the workforce opportunity wage act, 2014 PA 138,

 

MCL 408.414, whichever is greater.

 

     (2) As used in this section, "direct care worker" means a home

 

health aide, psychiatric aide, nursing assistant, or personal care

 

aide, as those occupations are described in the 2010 standard

 

occupational classification system of the United States Department

 


of Labor.
