HOUSE BILL NO. 5318

A bill to amend 1846 RS 171, entitled

"Of county jails and the regulation thereof,"

by amending section 3 (MCL 801.3).

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 3. (1) No intercourse shall be is allowed with any a convict in solitary imprisonment, except for the conveyance of food and other necessary purposes, unless some minister of the gospel shall be disposed to visit him, in the manner hereinafter provided.and for visitation by a cleric as provided in this act.

(2) As used in this section, "cleric" means a minister, priest, rabbi, accredited Christian Science practitioner, or other similar functionary of a religious organization, or an individual reasonably believed by the convict to be a functionary of a religious organization.
