HOUSE BILL No. 4923

 

 

September 12, 2017, Introduced by Rep. Faris and referred to the Committee on Military and Veterans Affairs.

 

     A bill to amend 1931 PA 328, entitled

 

"The Michigan penal code,"

 

(MCL 750.1 to 750.568) by adding section 408a.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 408a. A person shall not request or receive remuneration

 

from a veteran, or a veteran's spouse, who resides in this state

 

for providing a replacement of or for processing a "DD Form 214,

 

Certificate of Release or Discharge from Active Duty", for that

 

veteran or that veteran's spouse. A person who violates this

 

section is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of $500.00.

 

     Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days

 

after the date it is enacted into law.
