HOUSE BILL NO. 4872

A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

"Michigan election law,"

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 515a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 515a. (1) Not later than 90 days after the completion of each federal decennial census, the secretary of state shall send by forwardable mail both of the following to each registered elector in this state:

(a) A postage prepaid and preaddressed return card to the appropriate city or township clerk that the elector may use to verify the elector's current address information.

(b) A notice indicating all of the methods by which an elector may update the elector's current address information, including, but not limited to, returning the postage prepaid and preaddressed return card described in subdivision (a) to the appropriate city or township clerk.

(2) An elector is not required to return the postage prepaid and preaddressed return card sent to the elector under subsection (1), but if that elector's address has changed, that elector is required to update the elector's address information with the secretary of state or the elector's city or township clerk.
