HOUSE BILL NO. 4851

A bill to amend 1954 PA 116, entitled

"Michigan election law,"

(MCL 168.1 to 168.992) by adding section 685a.

the people of the state of michigan enact:

Sec. 685a. If a state political party is qualified to have the names of its candidates printed in a separate party column on each election ballot and that state political party is affiliated with a national political party that changes its name, the state political party may change its name to the same name as the national political party if, not later than 4 p.m. of the one hundred tenth day before a general November election, the chairperson and secretary of the state central committee of that state political party file with the secretary of state a certificate, signed by the chairperson and secretary of the state central committee of that state political party, indicating the name change for that state political party.
