HOUSE BILL No. 4706

 

June 7, 2011, Introduced by Reps. Slavens and Switalski and referred to the Committee on Oversight, Reform, and Ethics.

 

     A bill to establish the terms on which health benefits may be

 

provided to legislators.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1. This act shall be known and may be cited as the

 

"legislative health benefits act".

 

     Sec. 2. As used in this act:

 

     (a) "Health coverage" means hospital, medical-surgical,

 

dental, optical, and hearing insurance benefits.

 

     (b) "Legislator" means an individual duly elected and serving

 

in the house of representatives or senate of this state.

 

     Sec. 3. Any health coverage that this state provides to a

 

legislator during the legislator's term of office shall be on the

 

same terms as health coverage offered to nonexclusively represented

 

employees of this state.

 


     Enacting section 1. This act takes effect January 1, 2013.
