HOUSE BILL No. 4495

 

March 3, 2009, Introduced by Reps. LeBlanc, Polidori, Valentine, Hansen, Rick Jones and Meadows and referred to the Committee on Transportation.

 

     A bill to amend 1949 PA 300, entitled

 

"Michigan vehicle code,"

 

by amending section 32b (MCL 257.32b), as amended by 1983 PA 91.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 32b. "Moped" means a 2- or 3-wheeled vehicle to which

 

both of the following apply:

 

     (a) It is equipped with a motor that does not exceed 50 cubic

 

centimeters piston displacement , produces 2.0 brake horsepower or

 

less, and cannot propel the vehicle at a speed greater than 30

 

miles per hour on a level surface. The

 

     (b) Its power drive system shall does not require the operator

 

to shift gears.
