A bill to amend 1963 PA 17, entitled
"An act to relieve certain persons from civil liability when
rendering emergency care, when rendering care to persons involved
in competitive sports under certain circumstances, or when
participating in a mass immunization program approved by the
department of public health,"
(MCL 691.1501 to 691.1507) by adding section 1508.
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:
Sec. 1508. A physician who, in good faith and while performing
duties as described in the Michigan unarmed combat regulatory act,
2004 PA 403, MCL 338.3601 to 338.3663, renders emergency care at a
contest or event that is produced or staged by a promoter licensed
under the Michigan unarmed combat regulatory act, 2004 PA 403, MCL
338.3601 to 338.3663, is not liable for civil damages as a result
of an act or omission by the physician in rendering the emergency
care, unless the act or omission amounts to gross negligence or
willful or wanton misconduct.
Enacting section 1. This amendatory act takes effect 90 days
after the date it is enacted into law.
