HOUSE BILL No. 4253

 

February 15, 2011, Introduced by Reps. McMillin, Somerville and Shirkey and referred to the Committee on Education.

 

     A bill to amend 1976 PA 451, entitled

 

"The revised school code,"

 

(MCL 380.1 to 380.1852) by adding section 1255b.

 

THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN ENACT:

 

     Sec. 1255b. If the board of a school district or intermediate

 

school district or board of directors of a public school academy

 

provides medical, optical, or dental benefits to employees and

 

their dependents, the board or board of directors shall ensure that

 

the school district, intermediate school district, or public school

 

academy posts all of the following information on its website, and

 

updates the information within 14 days of any change, with a link

 

to the information on the homepage:

 

     (a) The annual amount of its expenditures for providing these

 

benefits for the most recent year for which the data are available.

 

     (b) The total amount of the cost of providing full family

 

coverage for these benefits for an employee and the amount the

 

school district, intermediate school district, or public school

 

academy contributes to that cost for an employee, for the most

 

recent year for which the data are available.
