2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Helen A. Ballantyne of Springfield, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 3, 2016 at the age of 94; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was born in Carbondale to Oren | ||||||
6 | and Ruth Crawshaw Bell on January 30, 1922; she married Kelso | ||||||
7 | Joseph Ballantyne in Memphis, Tennessee on March 20, 1943; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne attended Southern Illinois | ||||||
9 | University Carbondale; she and her husband built and owned the | ||||||
10 | Surf Club of Springfield; she was a member of the Christian | ||||||
11 | Science Church; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Hellen Ballantyne was a wonderful seamstress; she | ||||||
13 | also enjoyed playing tennis and traveling with her husband; | ||||||
14 | Helen was strong-willed and spirited; she had her pilot's | ||||||
15 | license before she had her driver's license; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne was predeceased by her husband of | ||||||
17 | 61 years, Kelso; her parents; and her grandson, Adam Stetson; | ||||||
18 | and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Helen Ballantyne is survived by her son, Kelso R. | ||||||
20 | (Bonnie) Ballantyne; her former daughter-in-law, Nancy |

1 | (Charles) Woodward; her grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jim) | ||||||
2 | Livingston, Kelso Brent (Sadie) Ballantyne, Deborah (Kevin) | ||||||
3 | Trout, and Ryan (Stacey) Woodward; and her ten | ||||||
4 | great-grandchildren; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
7 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Helen A. Ballantyne, | ||||||
8 | and extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and | ||||||
9 | all who knew and loved her; and be it further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of Helen Ballantyne as an expression of | ||||||
12 | our deepest sympathy.
