2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Sgt. Douglas J. Riney of Fairview who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 19, 2016 from injuries sustained while | ||||||
5 | fighting enemy forces in Kabul, Afghanistan; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was born at Fort Stewart Army | ||||||
7 | base in Georgia to Dave and Pam Chabotte Riney on July 29, | ||||||
8 | 1990; he married the love of his life, Kylie Eddy, on December | ||||||
9 | 29, 2012 in Farmington; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was a graduate of Spoon River | ||||||
11 | Valley High School; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney entered active military | ||||||
13 | service in July of 2012 as a petroleum supply specialist and | ||||||
14 | was last assigned to the Support Squadron, Third Calvary | ||||||
15 | Regiment, First Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas, since | ||||||
16 | December of 2012; he had previously deployed in support of | ||||||
17 | Operation Enduring Freedom from July of 2014 to February of | ||||||
18 | 2015, and also deployed from June of 2016 to October of 2016 in | ||||||
19 | support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel; his awards and | ||||||
20 | decorations include the Purple Heart, Bronze Star, Army | ||||||
21 | Commendation Medal, four Army Achievements Medals, Army Good | ||||||
22 | Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan |

1 | Campaign Medal with three campaign stars, Global War on | ||||||
2 | Terrorism Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional | ||||||
3 | Development Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon and NATO Medal; and

4 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney was a member of the Vintage | ||||||
5 | Church in Texas, and a proud volunteer firefighter with the | ||||||
6 | Fairview Fire Department; he was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, | ||||||
7 | a BMX bicycle rider with many awards and trophies; he enjoyed | ||||||
8 | riding his motorcycle, hunting, and fishing; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Douglas Riney is survived by his wife, Kylie; | ||||||
10 | his children, Elea and James Riney; his father, Dave (Kristie) | ||||||
11 | Riney; his mother, Pam (Don) Boland; his siblings, Jeff Budd, | ||||||
12 | and Stacey (Ashley Ayers) Budd; his niece, Cailee Budd; two | ||||||
13 | stepbrothers, Bryce and Kole Vaughn; one stepsister, Ashlie | ||||||
14 | Herrin; his paternal grandmother, Nancy Riney; his maternal | ||||||
15 | grandmother, Linda Huntley; several aunts and uncles and many | ||||||
16 | cousins; his father and mother-in-law, Randal and Donna Eddy; | ||||||
17 | and two sisters-in-law, Brandi Eddy, and Janel (Doug) Brown and | ||||||
18 | their children, Kambell, Payton, Avari, and Asher McDermet and | ||||||
19 | Kinsley Brown; therefore, be it

20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
21 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
22 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Sgt. Douglas Riney, | ||||||
23 | and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and |

1 | all who knew and loved him; and be it further

2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
