2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Andrew Jason Bollman of Dixon, who passed | ||||||
4 | away on July 9, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman was born on August 25, 1976 in | ||||||
6 | Sterling; his parents were Dale and Diana Bollman; he grew up | ||||||
7 | on the family farm outside of Harmon; he married Rochelle | ||||||
8 | Monteith on June 7, 2006 in Tulum, Mexico; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman graduated from Walnut High School | ||||||
10 | in 1994; he played basketball, baseball, and served as Class | ||||||
11 | President; while in high school, he discovered a passion for | ||||||
12 | photography and worked with his father to create a small studio | ||||||
13 | and business on the family farm; he photographed his first | ||||||
14 | wedding at the age of 16; he later attended Sauk Valley | ||||||
15 | Community College, where he took photographs for the student | ||||||
16 | newspaper and served as Student Trustee from 1995 to 1996; he | ||||||
17 | graduated from Augustana College in 1998 with a Bachelor of | ||||||
18 | Arts in English, all the while continuing to photograph for the | ||||||
19 | literary and arts magazine and taking student portraits for the | ||||||
20 | yearbook; he traveled home weekly to photograph weddings and | ||||||
21 | worked in the summers as a photojournalist for the Dixon | ||||||
22 | Telegraph, creatively taking images of everything from | ||||||
23 | toddlers strolling in the park to F3 tornados; and

1 | WHEREAS, After graduation, Andrew Bollman opened a | ||||||
2 | photography studio in Sterling, where he captured memories and | ||||||
3 | special moments for many families; after photographing a | ||||||
4 | wedding in India, he viewed the genuine spirit of the people of | ||||||
5 | India despite their poverty and injustices; that experience | ||||||
6 | compelled him to serve his own community in a greater capacity; | ||||||
7 | and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman helped his father and brother raise | ||||||
9 | corn and soybeans on their heritage farm and maintained his | ||||||
10 | grandparent's farmette, trying his hand at growing sweetcorn | ||||||
11 | and tending alpacas with his wife and son; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman attended law school at Northern | ||||||
13 | Illinois University; prior to graduating in 2005, he worked as | ||||||
14 | an intern at the Whiteside County State's Attorney's office and | ||||||
15 | studied international law for a summer in France; after serving | ||||||
16 | as an Assistant State's Attorney in Lee County, he built his | ||||||
17 | own legal practice, partnering with Bruce Keller in 2015 to | ||||||
18 | form Keller and Bollman, where he worked tirelessly to ensure | ||||||
19 | his clients received fair treatment and justice; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman recognized the value and quality of | ||||||
21 | his education at Sauk Valley Community College and served on | ||||||
22 | the Sauk Valley Community College Board of Trustees for many |

1 | years; he also served as Board President and was later | ||||||
2 | appointed President of the Illinois Community College Trustees | ||||||
3 | Association, serving a one-year term in 2015; he also served as | ||||||
4 | President of the Lee County Board of Health and volunteered to | ||||||
5 | install updated technology into Jamaican schools; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
7 | grandfathers, Fidel Lujan and Wilbur Bollman; his | ||||||
8 | mother-in-law, Jane Monteith; his aunt, Frances Esquibel; his | ||||||
9 | niece, Hannah Ekberg; and his beloved Dalmatian, Jake; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman is survived by his wife, Rochelle; | ||||||
11 | his son, Asher; his parents, Dale and Diana Bollman; his | ||||||
12 | brother, Anthony (Carmen) Bollman; his sister, Annette (Larry) | ||||||
13 | VanLanduit; his grandmothers, Marian Bollman and Marianita | ||||||
14 | Lujan; his father-in-law, Richard Monteith; his | ||||||
15 | sisters-in-law, Reni (Paul) Whitcombe and Ronda (Dean) Ekberg; | ||||||
16 | his brother-in-law, Ryan (Jaimi) Monteith; his nieces and | ||||||
17 | nephews, Antori (Nicholas) Dirks, Stephanie (William) | ||||||
18 | Friedrich, Leah and Aidan Bollman, Ryan and Aaron Schoaf, Ethan | ||||||
19 | and Austin VanLanduit, Thomas, David, Sara, and Esther | ||||||
20 | Whitcombe, and Isaac and Joshua Ekberg; his great-nieces and | ||||||
21 | great-nephews, Reggie, Natalia, and Elizabeth; and many aunts, | ||||||
22 | uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it

1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
2 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Andrew Jason Bollman; | ||||||
