SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Andrew Jason Bollman of Dixon, who passed
4away on July 9, 2016; and
5 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman was born on August 25, 1976 in
6Sterling; his parents were Dale and Diana Bollman; he grew up
7on the family farm outside of Harmon; he married Rochelle
8Monteith on June 7, 2006 in Tulum, Mexico; and
9 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman graduated from Walnut High School
10in 1994; he played basketball, baseball, and served as Class
11President; while in high school, he discovered a passion for
12photography and worked with his father to create a small studio
13and business on the family farm; he photographed his first
14wedding at the age of 16; he later attended Sauk Valley
15Community College, where he took photographs for the student
16newspaper and served as Student Trustee from 1995 to 1996; he
17graduated from Augustana College in 1998 with a Bachelor of
18Arts in English, all the while continuing to photograph for the
19literary and arts magazine and taking student portraits for the
20yearbook; he traveled home weekly to photograph weddings and
21worked in the summers as a photojournalist for the Dixon
22Telegraph, creatively taking images of everything from
23toddlers strolling in the park to F3 tornados; and

1 WHEREAS, After graduation, Andrew Bollman opened a
2photography studio in Sterling, where he captured memories and
3special moments for many families; after photographing a
4wedding in India, he viewed the genuine spirit of the people of
5India despite their poverty and injustices; that experience
6compelled him to serve his own community in a greater capacity;
7and
8 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman helped his father and brother raise
9corn and soybeans on their heritage farm and maintained his
10grandparent's farmette, trying his hand at growing sweetcorn
11and tending alpacas with his wife and son; and
12 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman attended law school at Northern
13Illinois University; prior to graduating in 2005, he worked as
14an intern at the Whiteside County State's Attorney's office and
15studied international law for a summer in France; after serving
16as an Assistant State's Attorney in Lee County, he built his
17own legal practice, partnering with Bruce Keller in 2015 to
18form Keller and Bollman, where he worked tirelessly to ensure
19his clients received fair treatment and justice; and
20 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman recognized the value and quality of
21his education at Sauk Valley Community College and served on
22the Sauk Valley Community College Board of Trustees for many

1years; he also served as Board President and was later
2appointed President of the Illinois Community College Trustees
3Association, serving a one-year term in 2015; he also served as
4President of the Lee County Board of Health and volunteered to
5install updated technology into Jamaican schools; and
6 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman was preceded in death by his
7grandfathers, Fidel Lujan and Wilbur Bollman; his
8mother-in-law, Jane Monteith; his aunt, Frances Esquibel; his
9niece, Hannah Ekberg; and his beloved Dalmatian, Jake; and
10 WHEREAS, Andrew Bollman is survived by his wife, Rochelle;
11his son, Asher; his parents, Dale and Diana Bollman; his
12brother, Anthony (Carmen) Bollman; his sister, Annette (Larry)
13VanLanduit; his grandmothers, Marian Bollman and Marianita
14Lujan; his father-in-law, Richard Monteith; his
15sisters-in-law, Reni (Paul) Whitcombe and Ronda (Dean) Ekberg;
16his brother-in-law, Ryan (Jaimi) Monteith; his nieces and
17nephews, Antori (Nicholas) Dirks, Stephanie (William)
18Friedrich, Leah and Aidan Bollman, Ryan and Aaron Schoaf, Ethan
19and Austin VanLanduit, Thomas, David, Sara, and Esther
20Whitcombe, and Isaac and Joshua Ekberg; his great-nieces and
21great-nephews, Reggie, Natalia, and Elizabeth; and many aunts,
22uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
23 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL

1ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
2family and friends, mourn the passing of Andrew Jason Bollman;
3and be it further
4 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be

6our sympathy.
