2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of M. Bernice Springman, who passed away on | ||||||
4 | June 15, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, M. Bernice Springman was born on November 22, 1919 | ||||||
6 | in Hamburg, Missouri; her parents were George William Rogers | ||||||
7 | and Ida Florence Rogers; she married Leo J. Springman on August | ||||||
8 | 3, 1937 in St. Charles, Missouri; they resided in Kampsville | ||||||
9 | until 1948, when they moved to Godfrey; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, M. Bernice Springman was the youngest of eight | ||||||
11 | children and loved playing baseball; she had an eighth grade | ||||||
12 | education and obtained her GED in 1965; she subsequently | ||||||
13 | enrolled in the Licensed Practical Nursing course at the Olin's | ||||||
14 | Vocational School of Practical Nursing; she graduated second in | ||||||
15 | her class and began her nursing career at St. Anthony's | ||||||
16 | Hospital in Alton, where she was beloved by the hospital's | ||||||
17 | nuns; after leaving St. Anthony's, she went to work at the | ||||||
18 | office of Dr. Norman Taylor, where she retired in 1990 at the | ||||||
19 | age of 70; and

20 | WHEREAS, M. Bernice Springman was a "Pink Lady" volunteer | ||||||
21 | at Alton Memorial Hospital and participated in the Parent | ||||||
22 | Teacher Association and the Mother's Club at McKinley Grade |

1 | School; she attended Westminster Presbyterian Church in | ||||||
2 | Godfrey; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, M. Bernice Springman was preceded in death by her | ||||||
4 | parents; her siblings, Avery, Forrest, Harvey, Vencil, Goldie, | ||||||
5 | Lois, and Mae; her husband, Leo; and her son-in-law, John | ||||||
6 | Hudson; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, M. Bernice Springman is survived by her son, Leo | ||||||
8 | Michael (Trudi) Springman; her daughters, Deborah Springman | ||||||
9 | Hudson and Melinda Springman (Neill) Hartman; her | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, Michelle Tate, Michael Lee Springman, Tracy | ||||||
11 | Springman, Russell Springman, Crystal Garrett, Mary Milford, | ||||||
12 | Ronald Springman, Aaron Springman, Jamie Springman, Kristine | ||||||
13 | Uffelman, Stephanie Simpson, Brent Hartman, Chelsea Kennedy, | ||||||
14 | and Jennifer Hartman; 27 great-grandchildren; several | ||||||
15 | great-great-grandchildren; two nieces; and three nephews; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her | ||||||
19 | family and friends, mourn the passing of M. Bernice Springman; | ||||||
20 | and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of M. Bernice Springman as an |
