| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Clarence R. "Chauncey" Powers of | ||||||
4 | Seminole, Florida, formerly of Moline, who passed away on | ||||||
5 | December 10, 2015; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Clarence Powers was born in Boone, Iowa to John | ||||||
7 | and Elizabeth Kelly Powers on August 21, 1921; he graduated | ||||||
8 | from Sacred Heart Grade and High School in Boone in 1939; he | ||||||
9 | joined the Iowa National Guard in August of 1936 and the United | ||||||
10 | States Army in February of 1941; he served during World War II | ||||||
11 | and was discharged from the Army in June of 1945; he married | ||||||
12 | Dorothy Youngvorst in Davenport, Iowa on October 17, 1949; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Clarence Powers joined the Illinois Bell | ||||||
14 | Telephone Company in 1945 and worked at various locations in | ||||||
15 | the State of Illinois for 37 years, retiring in 1982; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Clarence Powers' wife, Dorothy, passed away on | ||||||
17 | December 12, 2015; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, Clarence Powers was preceded in death by five | ||||||
19 | sisters and two brothers; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Clarence Powers is survived by his sister, Shirley |

1 | Ann Walker, and his nieces, Marcia Youngvorst, Lauren Gekas, | ||||||
2 | and Sue (Gene) DuPont; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
5 | Clarence R. "Chauncey" Powers, and extend our sincere | ||||||
6 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
7 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Clarence Powers as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our deepest sympathy.
