| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Bessie Tsausis of Gurnee, who passed away | ||||||
4 | on March 5, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis was born in Waukegan to Tony and | ||||||
6 | Helen (Pilafas) Tsausis on December 18, 1933; she attended | ||||||
7 | Central School, where the Waukegan Public Library presently | ||||||
8 | stands, and graduated from Waukegan High School in 1951; she | ||||||
9 | graduated from Lake Forest College in 1955; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis worked as a teacher for over 37 | ||||||
11 | years in the Waukegan school district, mostly at Thomas | ||||||
12 | Jefferson Jr. H.S.; she retired in 1994; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis spent winters at her condo in | ||||||
14 | Bradenton, Florida; she was active with the League of Women | ||||||
15 | Voters, Friends of Waukegan Library, AFT/IFT, and the Retired | ||||||
16 | Teachers Association; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis founded the Waukegan Chapter of the | ||||||
18 | Delta Kappa Gamma Education Society in 1963; she was a founder | ||||||
19 | of Sunday School and was a teacher and supervisor for 39 years; | ||||||
20 | she was honored as "Mother of the Year" in 2005 by the Greek | ||||||
21 | Community; and

1 | WHEREAS, Bessie Tsausis is survived by her sister, Ethel, | ||||||
2 | and her brother, John; therefore, be it
| ||||||
3 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
4 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
5 | Bessie Tsausis, and extend our sincere condolences to her | ||||||
6 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it | ||||||
7 | further
| ||||||
8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
9 | presented to the family of Bessie Tsausis as an expression of | ||||||
10 | our deepest sympathy.
