1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of William J. "Gov" Bolger of McHenry, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on February 24, 2016; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, William Bolger was born on the family farm a few | ||||||
6 | miles south of McHenry to Thomas and Grace (Doherty) Bolger on | ||||||
7 | October 9, 1920; he graduated from McHenry High School in 1938 | ||||||
8 | and married Madeline Freund at St. Mary Church in McHenry on | ||||||
9 | July 2, 1966; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, William Bolger worked one year at the Farmers Mill | ||||||
11 | before returning to operate the family farm in the heart of the | ||||||
12 | Irish Prairie alongside the Fox River until 2010; he raised and | ||||||
13 | cared for dairy cattle, pigs, and chickens with the help of | ||||||
14 | neighborhood boys; and

15 | WHEREAS, William Bolger and his brothers, Tom and Bill, | ||||||
16 | formed the McHenry Shamrocks hard-ball baseball team; along | ||||||
17 | with neighbors and friends, they won the county championship in | ||||||
18 | 1949; he and his wife, Madeline, enjoyed having a large garden | ||||||
19 | and attending family picnics and special events; he belonged to | ||||||
20 | St. Patrick Church all his life, where he was an usher and | ||||||
21 | Eucharistic Minister; he also belonged to the Foresters and the | ||||||
22 | Knights of Columbus; he and his wife were active participants |

2 | WHEREAS, William Bolger was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
3 | Madeline; his parents; his brother, Thomas; his three sisters, | ||||||
4 | Vivian Eastman, Eleanor Sullivan, and Mabel Weber; and his four | ||||||
5 | brothers-in-law, Richard Eastman, Edwin Sullivan, Richard | ||||||
6 | Weber, George Miller, and Harold Stilling, Sr.; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, William Bolger is survived by his son, John | ||||||
8 | Bolger; his granddaughter, Sara Bolger; his brother, William | ||||||
9 | (Carol) Bolger; his sisters, Grace Bolger Stilling, Ann Bolger | ||||||
10 | Miller, Margaret (Richard) Carey, and Rita (Raymond) Gaylord; | ||||||
11 | and his sister-in-law, Kathryn Nye Bolger; therefore, be it

12 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
13 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
14 | William J. Bolger, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
15 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
16 | further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to the family of William Bolger as an expression of | ||||||
19 | our deepest sympathy.
