| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Dr. Richard "Dick" Hunckler Jr. of | ||||||
| 4 | Joliet, who passed away on December 21, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was born to Richard J. Sr. and Mary | ||||||
| 6 | T. (Loscheider) Hunckler on June 6, 1956; he attended St. Jude | ||||||
| 7 | Grade School and Joliet West High School, where he was | ||||||
| 8 | president of the senior class, and Joliet Junior College, where | ||||||
| 9 | he was a member of the state championship golf team; he then | ||||||
| 10 | attended Eastern Illinois University, where he received the | ||||||
| 11 | Academic Excellence Award; finally, he attended the Southern | ||||||
| 12 | Illinois University School of Dental Medicine, where he was the | ||||||
| 13 | salutatorian, and the University of Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler had a 33-year career as a cosmetic | ||||||
| 15 | and reconstructive dentist; he was a member of the staff at the | ||||||
| 16 | Walter G. Zoller Memorial Dental Clinic at The University of | ||||||
| 17 | Chicago; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was voted a member of Omicron Kappa | ||||||
| 19 | Upsilon, Beta Beta Beta, and the Phi Sigma Society, all | ||||||
| 20 | national academic fraternities; he was a lifelong golfer and | ||||||
| 21 | enjoyed numerous outings as part of his foursome The Back Nine | ||||||
| 22 | Boys, along with Kelly (Nancy) Campbell, Bob (Kathy) Downey, | ||||||

| 1 | and Tim (Mary) Suste; he also loved playing euchre with and | ||||||
| 2 | against his lifelong friends and brothers, Steve, Mark, and | ||||||
| 3 | Jim; he will be remembered as a kind, thoughtful, fun-loving, | ||||||
| 4 | fiercely loyal, and extremely intelligent man; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler was preceded in death by his father, | ||||||
| 6 | Richard J. Hunckler Sr.; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Dr. Hunckler is survived by the "love of his | ||||||
| 8 | life", Jane Marie Condon; his mother, Mary T. Hunckler; his | ||||||
| 9 | son, Timothy R. Hunckler; his daughter, Amy K. Hunckler; his | ||||||
| 10 | brothers, Stephen P. (Barbara), Mark A. (Maribeth), and James | ||||||
| 11 | E. (Amy); his nephew, Thomas R. Hunckler; his honorary | ||||||
| 12 | sister/cousin, Kathleen Loscheider; and numerous aunts, | ||||||
| 13 | uncles, and cousins; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 16 | Dr. Richard "Dick" Hunckler Jr. and extend our sincere | ||||||
| 17 | condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved | ||||||
| 18 | him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to the family of Dr. Hunckler as an expression of our | ||||||
| 21 | deepest sympathy.
