SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Reuben G. Reuter; and
4 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter was born in Barrington; his parents
5were Fred and Clara (nee Koch) Reuter; he was raised on a farm
6in Barrington; when it was time for him to attend high school,
7the family moved to downtown Barrington across the street from
8the Jefferson Ice Company; and
9 WHEREAS, After high school, Reuben Reuter went to work for
10Paddock Publications, initially working in the typesetting
11department; he later moved to the classified section, where he
12worked until his retirement in 1991; he was one of the first
13employees at the newspaper to be recognized as Employee of the
14Year; and
15 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter married his wife of 64 years, June,
16just before he shipped out to the Korean Conflict; upon his
17return, they resided in the Palatine area and had 5 children;
18in 1969, they built a home in Marengo, where they lived ever
19since; and
20 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter was a long time member of the Union
21Legion, where he would come in after work every Friday night to

1help his wife with the fish fry; he was also a member of the
2Union Lions Club and St. John's United Church of Christ; and
3 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter enjoyed fishing, vacationing with
4his family, and spending time with his loved ones; and
5 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter was preceded in death by his
6parents; 2 infant sons; a brother, Elmer; and 3 sisters, Esther
7Wendt, Florence Peterson, and Millie Jaquet; and
8 WHEREAS, Reuben Reuter is survived by his wife, June; 3
9children, Susan (Steve) Faber, Ron (Connie), and Cindy; and 2
10granddaughters, Amanda (Matt) Janusz and Kate; therefore, be it
11 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Reuben G. Reuter; and
14be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Reuben Reuter as an expression of
17our sympathy.
