2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Michael Kikuo Cavalenes of River Forest, | ||||||
4 | who passed away on May 28, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Michael Cavalenes was born on April 2, 1984; he | ||||||
6 | attended Willard Elementary School, Roosevelt Middle School, | ||||||
7 | Oak Park and River Forest High School, and graduated from the | ||||||
8 | Oakley School in 2002 with honors in math and English; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Michael Cavalenes was artistically talented and | ||||||
10 | studied Chinese brush painting, piano, and the flute; he was an | ||||||
11 | avid soccer player and played for many years on teams coached | ||||||
12 | by his father and on the Oak Park and River Forest High School | ||||||
13 | varsity team; he was a prolific writer and wrote hundreds of | ||||||
14 | poems and a manuscript for a children's book, which he planned | ||||||
15 | to collaborate on with his mother; and

16 | WHEREAS, Michael Cavalenes enjoyed family vacations to | ||||||
17 | Hawaii and fishing for baby hammerhead sharks with his Uncle | ||||||
18 | Mike; and
| ||||||
19 | WHEREAS, Michael Cavalenes was preceded in death by his | ||||||
20 | maternal grandparents, Edwin and Tomie Tamura; and

1 | WHEREAS, Michael Cavalenes is survived by his parents, Mark | ||||||
2 | and Lynne (nee Tamura); his grandparents, George and Elisabeth | ||||||
3 | Cavalenes; and his uncles, Michael Tamura, Mathew (Patti), | ||||||
4 | Steven, Michael, and George Cavalenes; therefore, be it
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | Michael Kikuo Cavalenes, and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
8 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further

10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
