2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Tadeusz "Ted" Mitan of Collinsville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on September 30, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan was born on May 2, 1931 in | ||||||
6 | Zakliczyn, Poland; he and his family came to the United States | ||||||
7 | from Poland in 1949; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan was a graduate of Lincoln High | ||||||
9 | School in East St. Louis; he later graduated from Bailey | ||||||
10 | Technical School in St. Louis, Missouri; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan served his country as a member of | ||||||
12 | the United States Army during the Korean War; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan retired from Cahokia School | ||||||
14 | District #187 in 1993 after many years of service; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan was a member of the American Legion | ||||||
16 | Post 784 in Cahokia, The 40 & 8, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post | ||||||
17 | 6504 in Waterloo, and the Knights of Columbus Cahokia Council; | ||||||
18 | he was also a 38-year member of Immaculate Conception Catholic | ||||||
19 | Church in Centreville and a member of Saints Peter and Paul | ||||||
20 | Catholic Church in Collinsville for more than 20 years; and

1 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan enjoyed playing the accordion, | ||||||
2 | gardening, nature, cards, bingo, washers, horseshoes, and | ||||||
3 | soccer; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | parents, Andrew and Rozalia (nee Jarczyk) Mitan; a son, Ted | ||||||
6 | Mitan, Jr.; and 2 brothers, Joseph and Michael Mitan; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Tadeusz Mitan is survived by his beloved wife of | ||||||
8 | almost 57 years, "Amazing" Grace (nee Kipping) Mitan; 2 sons, | ||||||
9 | John Mitan and Joe Mitan; 2 daughters, Julie (Dan Lemanski) | ||||||
10 | Embrich and Mary (Lewis) Effler; 4 grandchildren, Brandon | ||||||
11 | Effler, Mandy Embrich, Tommy Embrich, and Andrew Effler; 3 | ||||||
12 | brothers, Alex (Mary) Mitan, Marion Mitan, and Kasimier Mitan; | ||||||
13 | a sister, Wanda Mitan; and many nieces, nephews, and other | ||||||
14 | relatives; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
17 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Tadeusz "Ted" Mitan; | ||||||
18 | and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Tadeusz Mitan as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our sympathy.
