| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Sgt. Jeremy C. Sherman of Watseka, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on November 12, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman, the son of Gwendolyn and Scott | ||||||
| 6 | Childress, was born in Covington, Tennessee on January 6, 1997; | ||||||
| 7 | he graduated from Watseka Community High School in 2015; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman joined the United States Army in | ||||||
| 9 | 2015; he served in South Korea, Afghanistan, and Egypt; he was | ||||||
| 10 | a Black Hawk crew chief with Aviation Company, Task Force | ||||||
| 11 | Sinai, part of a multinational peacekeeping mission, and was | ||||||
| 12 | attending college for aeronautics in hopes of one day becoming | ||||||
| 13 | a Black Hawk pilot; his decorations included the Army | ||||||
| 14 | Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Award, the Army Good | ||||||
| 15 | Conduct Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the | ||||||
| 16 | Afghanistan Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service | ||||||
| 17 | Ribbon, the Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, the Korea | ||||||
| 18 | Defense Service Medal, the Non-Commissioned Officer | ||||||
| 19 | Professional Development Ribbon, the Army Service Ribbon, and | ||||||
| 20 | the Overseas Service Ribbon; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman enjoyed spending time with his family | ||||||
| 22 | and summers at Yogi Bear Camp Grounds; he loved ice cream and | ||||||

| 1 | dogs, especially Chewy, his pet Chihuahua; he was an avid fan | ||||||
| 2 | of the Chicago Bears; he was a loyal friend and cherished his | ||||||
| 3 | family; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 5 | grandmother, Carol Sherman; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Sgt. Sherman is survived by his wife, Kathleen | ||||||
| 7 | Sherman; his parents; his brother, Nathan Childress; and his | ||||||
| 8 | sister, Shea Childress; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Sgt. Jeremy C. Sherman and extend our sincere condolences to | ||||||
| 12 | his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 13 | further

| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to the family of Sgt. Sherman as an expression of our | ||||||
| 16 | deepest sympathy.
