| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to | ||||||
| 3 | recognize Earlean Collins on the occasion of her retirement as | ||||||
| 4 | Cook County Commissioner; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins has dedicated her life to | ||||||
| 6 | public service, serving 37 years of elected public office; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins was the first black female | ||||||
| 8 | elected to the Illinois Senate and the first female Assistant | ||||||
| 9 | Majority Leader and is the longest serving female elected | ||||||
| 10 | official in the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Commissioner Collins | ||||||
| 12 | will be held on October 17, 2014 at The 500 Room at the | ||||||
| 13 | Professional Building at Rush University Medical Center; | ||||||
| 14 | therefore, be it

| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 16 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Earlean | ||||||
| 17 | Collins on her retirement as Cook County Commissioner, thank | ||||||
| 18 | her for her dedication to public service, and wish her the best | ||||||
| 19 | in all her future endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 20 | RESOLVED, That we proclaim October 17, 2014 as "Earlean | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Collins Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further

| 2 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
