| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Howard W. Carney of Gillespie, who passed | ||||||
| 4 | away on October 12, 2020; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Howard Carney was born to LeRoy Carney and Hazel | ||||||
| 6 | (Linton) Carney Wagner on February 12, 1932; he graduated from | ||||||
| 7 | Gillespie High School and married Marvella June "Marvey" Meyer | ||||||
| 8 | in Litchfield on April 16, 1950; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Howard Carney worked as a mine manager for the | ||||||
| 10 | Monterey Coal Company; he was civic minded and served the City | ||||||
| 11 | of Gillespie as an alderman for eight years and as mayor for 20 | ||||||
| 12 | years; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Howard Carney enjoyed fishing and being with his | ||||||
| 14 | family; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Howard Carney was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
| 16 | Marvey; his parents; his son, Richard Carney; and his brothers, | ||||||
| 17 | Earl and LeRoy Carney; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Howard Carney is survived by his daughters, Donna | ||||||
| 19 | (Chuck) Westhoff and Vickie Brown (Tom Sorbie); his son, Ron | ||||||
| 20 | Carney (Ellen Brown); his grandchildren, Chuckie Westhoff, | ||||||

| 1 | Michael Westhoff, Ryan (Robin) Brown, Andy (Alisha) Brown, and | ||||||
| 2 | Alex Brown (Cindy Baldwin); seven great-grandchildren; and one | ||||||
| 3 | great-great-grandchildren; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL | ||||||
| 5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 6 | Howard W. Carney and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 7 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||

| 9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
