2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Christopher R. Schauer of Woodstock, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on August 10, 2014; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was born on April 27, 1976 in | ||||||
6 | Woodstock; his parents were Gary R. and Sharon E. (nee Madura) | ||||||
7 | Schauer; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, In his youth, Christopher Schauer was the Poster | ||||||
9 | Child for the Easter Seals; he loved sports, especially | ||||||
10 | basketball and baseball; in high school, he served as the | ||||||
11 | manager for the Woodstock High School State Championship | ||||||
12 | Baseball Team and the Woodstock High School Basketball Team; he | ||||||
13 | went on to manage the men's and women's basketball teams at | ||||||
14 | McHenry County College, where he was recently recognized for | ||||||
15 | his 20 years of service; and

16 | WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was the founder of | ||||||
17 | "Basketball in the Park", a fundraiser for "Give Kids the World | ||||||
18 | Village" in Kissimmee, Florida, for which he raised over | ||||||
19 | $36,000 in the course of 14 years; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer loved interacting with | ||||||
21 | people, especially during the time he spent working for Walt |

1 | Disney World in Orlando, Florida; he was always inspired by the | ||||||
2 | works of Walt Disney and Pat Summitt, head coach emeritus of | ||||||
3 | the Tennessee Lady Vols basketball team; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer was preceded in death by his | ||||||
5 | paternal grandparents, Robert and Marge Schauer; his maternal | ||||||
6 | grandparents, Joseph and Elizabeth Madura; 2 aunts, Nancy Smith | ||||||
7 | and Diana Madura; and an uncle, James Maxwell; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Christopher Schauer is survived by his parents; | ||||||
9 | his sisters, Jacqueline M. (Nathaniel Shanklin) Schauer and | ||||||
10 | Patricia L. (Matthew) Hale; a niece, Grace Hale; a nephew, | ||||||
11 | Jacob Hale; 8 aunts and uncles, Sue (Dave) Koeser, Connie | ||||||
12 | (Mike) Fraser, Tom (Judy) Madura, Mary Maxwell, Tim Madura, Bob | ||||||
13 | (Pam) Madura, Rick (Rose) Madura, and Greg (Angie) Madura; and | ||||||
14 | many cousins, extended family members, and dear friends; | ||||||
15 | therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
17 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
18 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Christopher R. | ||||||
19 | Schauer; and be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
21 | presented to the family of Christopher Schauer as an expression | ||||||
22 | of our sympathy.
