| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Harry Turner of Geneva, who passed away | ||||||
| 4 | on November 25, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Harry Turner was born in Green Bay, Wisconsin on | ||||||
| 6 | April 18, 1934 to Harry and Eleanor; at the age of 2, due to his | ||||||
| 7 | mother's illness, he began living in St. Charles with his aunt | ||||||
| 8 | and uncle, Dorothy and Dale Buckingham; he graduated from St. | ||||||
| 9 | Charles High School in 1952 and joined the United States Air | ||||||
| 10 | Force in 1953, serving for 12 years; he graduated from Northern | ||||||
| 11 | Illinois University in 1971; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Harry Turner was employed at various newspapers | ||||||
| 13 | and taught electronics at Waubonsee Community College; at the | ||||||
| 14 | time of his retirement, he operated his own typesetting | ||||||
| 15 | business; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Harry Turner was a member and past Commander of | ||||||
| 17 | the American Legion Post 75 in Geneva; he sang bass for many | ||||||
| 18 | years with the Fox Valley Barbershop Chorus; he enjoyed | ||||||
| 19 | listening to Jazz and Big Band music, collecting, gardening, | ||||||
| 20 | woodworking, and cheering for his Green Bay Packers, always in | ||||||
| 21 | the company of his German Shepherd; and

| 1 | WHEREAS, Harry Turner was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 2 | his aunt and uncle, Dorothy and Dale Buckingham; his | ||||||
| 3 | brother-in-law, Anthony Weber; and his nephew, Tony Weber; and
| ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Harry Turner is survived by his wife of 47 years, | ||||||
| 5 | Joanne (Laverty); his son, Joel; his sister, Joyce Weber; his | ||||||
| 6 | sisters and brothers-in-law, Ronald and Theresa Hodge, William | ||||||
| 7 | and Marilyn Stewart, and Richard and Patricia Laverty; and many | ||||||
| 8 | nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 11 | Harry Turner, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, | ||||||
| 12 | friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 13 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 14 | presented to the family of Harry Turner as an expression of our | ||||||
| 15 | deepest sympathy.
