SENATE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Lorraine B. Phillips of Omaha, Nebraska,
4who passed away on December 19, 2015; and
5 WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips was born on October 27, 1926 in
6Columbus, Nebraska; her parents were Walter and Sophie
7Burzynski; and
8 WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips raised her family in
9Bloomington and served on many boards, including the
10Bloomington-Normal Transit Board, at which she implemented the
11bus service for the disabled and handicapped; in 1986, she
12moved to Omaha, Nebraska to live closer to her family; and
13 WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips was preceded in death by her
14parents; her husband, David J. Phillips; her brother, Father
15John Kent; and her sisters, Gloria Daughtery, Rita Ballantine,
16and Rosalie Begley; and
17 WHEREAS, Lorraine Phillips is survived by her children,
18Mary (Steve) Gevercer and John (Terri Pruitt) Phillips; her
19grandsons, Ben, Jonah, and Matthew Gevercer, Megan (Joel
20Wunderlich) Phillips, and Cody Phillips; her sister, Jane
21(Bernard) Langan; and her many nieces and nephews; therefore,

2 RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL
3ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
4family and friends, mourn the passing of Lorraine B. Phillips;
5and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Lorraine Phillips as an expression
8of our sympathy.
