| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin Mose Weiss | ||||||
| 4 | of Clarksville, Tennessee, who passed away on December 2, 2015; | ||||||
| 5 | and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss was born to Kevin and Susan Weiss; he | ||||||
| 7 | attended McHenry public schools through the 4th grade and then | ||||||
| 8 | was home-schooled until his sophomore year of high school, when | ||||||
| 9 | he briefly attended McHenry High School East Campus and then | ||||||
| 10 | Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, where he | ||||||
| 11 | graduated in 2001; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss enlisted in the United States Army in | ||||||
| 13 | 2003; he served his country and pursued his dream of flying the | ||||||
| 14 | Army's Apache helicopters; he completed training after earning | ||||||
| 15 | a spot in Warrant Officer Candidate School in 2011 and was | ||||||
| 16 | deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring | ||||||
| 17 | Freedom in 2014; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss earned numerous decorations and | ||||||
| 19 | commendations, including the Air Medal; 3 Army commendation | ||||||
| 20 | medals; the Joint Service Achievement Medal; 2 Army Achievement | ||||||
| 21 | medals; Combat Action, Army Aviator, Air Assault, and | ||||||
| 22 | Parachutist badges; the Ranger tab; and numerous campaign and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | service awards; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, During his youth, Kevin Weiss delivered the | ||||||
| 3 | Northwest Herald and worked at the McHenry Dam concession | ||||||
| 4 | stand, where, at age 15, he was recognized for rescuing a trio | ||||||
| 5 | of fishermen after their boat capsized on the Fox River; he | ||||||
| 6 | also worked at Bjorkman's Ace Hardware and Adams Outdoor Power | ||||||
| 7 | Equipment, among other jobs; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss enjoyed hunting, target shooting, | ||||||
| 9 | swimming, boating, water skiing, and driving motorcycles; he | ||||||
| 10 | was a skilled mechanic and all-around handyman, who often | ||||||
| 11 | helped repair cars and more for his family and friends; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss was preceded in death by his | ||||||
| 13 | grandparents, Robert and Fran Mertins and H. Howard "Mose" and | ||||||
| 14 | Jane Weiss; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Kevin Weiss is survived by his wife of 12 years, | ||||||
| 16 | Beth; his children, Lucas Mose and Susan Jane; his parents, | ||||||
| 17 | Kevin and Susan Weiss; his siblings, Joe, Sally, Ben, Nellie, | ||||||
| 18 | Jessie, Rosie, and Lisa; his parents-in-law, John and Gloria | ||||||
| 19 | Baran; his uncles, Eric (Mery) Wyss and Robert Mertins; his | ||||||
| 20 | aunt, Cynthia Wolf; his cousins, Chance Nabar, Colton Mertins, | ||||||
| 21 | Carson, Dayton, and Calder Wyss, and Niesha and Adrian Boyer; | ||||||
| 22 | and other distant relatives; therefore, be it

| 1 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 2 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 3 | Chief Warrant Officer 2 Kevin Mose Weiss, and extend our | ||||||
| 4 | sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
| 5 | and loved him; and be it further
| ||||||
| 6 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 7 | presented to the family of Kevin Weiss as an expression of our | ||||||
| 8 | deepest sympathy.
