| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Joseph "Jay" Dowsett of Silvis, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on November 26, 2015; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett was born in Marshall, Missouri on | ||||||
| 6 | September 2, 1930 to William and Grace Meyer Dowsett; he served | ||||||
| 7 | in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict; he | ||||||
| 8 | married Diane Schmidt on December 26, 1953 in Moline; he later | ||||||
| 9 | married Velma Ford on November 27, 1976 in Davenport, Iowa; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett enjoyed woodworking and was a lifetime | ||||||
| 11 | St. Louis Cardinals fan; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett was preceded in death by his parents; | ||||||
| 13 | his wife, Velma; his brother, Bill; his sisters, Margaret and | ||||||
| 14 | Betty; and his son-in-law, James Merrill; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Jay Dowsett is survived by his children, Julie | ||||||
| 16 | (Herb) Durnell, Gail Merrill, Cathy (Jim) Reynertson, and John | ||||||
| 17 | (Sally) Dowsett; his 9 grandchildren; his 15 | ||||||
| 18 | great-grandchildren; and his stepdaughters, Barbara Ford and | ||||||
| 19 | Theresa (Marty) Hancock; therefore, be it

| 20 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||

| 1 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
