2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Frank G. Slocumb of Naperville, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on January 9, 2018; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was born to Frank G. Sr. and | ||||||
6 | Marguerite L. Slocumb
on July 9, 1945; he attended Oak | ||||||
7 | Park-River Forest High School and graduated from Loyola | ||||||
8 | University of Chicago in 1968; he was commissioned in the | ||||||
9 | United States Army
and was based at Ft. Meade in Maryland, | ||||||
10 | serving 27 months on active duty as a 1st Lieutenant and
| ||||||
11 | receiving an honorable discharge as Captain; he received his | ||||||
12 | Master of Business Arts from Northwestern
University and | ||||||
13 | married Mary Kay in 1972; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was
hired by BMO Harris Bank in 1972 | ||||||
15 | and retired as a District
Executive after 36 years; he also | ||||||
16 | served as President of the Harris Bank of Naperville; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was active with many | ||||||
18 | community-based
organizations; his leadership roles included | ||||||
19 | past board member and chairman of the trustees of
Edward | ||||||
20 | Hospital, board of directors and past chair of the Naperville | ||||||
21 | Development Partnership, advisory
board for the Colbeth Clinic | ||||||
22 | at the University of Illinois Medical Center, board member and |

president of the Rotary Club of Naperville, board member | ||||||
2 | of St. Patrick's Residence in Naperville,
board member of the | ||||||
3 | Millennium Carillon Foundation of Naperville, founding board | ||||||

Naperville Parks Foundation, board member of the | ||||||
5 | Edward Foundation, and board member of the Wheaton
Bank and | ||||||
6 | Trust Company; and

7 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was an active fund raiser for | ||||||
8 | numerous organizations, including the Naperville United Way, | ||||||
9 | the Heritage YMCA, the Boy Scouts of America, and St. Raphael | ||||||
10 | Church Capital Campaigns; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was honored with many awards and | ||||||
12 | recognitions, including the inaugural Community Leadership | ||||||
13 | Award from
BMO Harris Bank, the United Way of Metro Chicago | ||||||
14 | Volunteer of the Year, the Croagh Patrick Award, the Kid's Best | ||||||
15 | Friend Award from the Education Center, the Lifetime | ||||||
16 | Achievement Award
from the Naperville area Chamber of Commerce, | ||||||
17 | the Distinguished Citizen's Award from the Boy Scouts of
| ||||||
18 | America, and the Art Davis Leadership Award and the Lifetime | ||||||
19 | Achievement Award and from the Rotary
Club of Naperville; and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was an avid sports fan; he enjoyed | ||||||
21 | attending the theater and the Chicago
Symphony and spending | ||||||
22 | time at his condo in downtown Chicago; most of all, he enjoyed | ||||||
23 | traveling
around the world with his wife and playing golf with |

1 | his son; and
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb was preceded in
death by his | ||||||
3 | parents; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Frank Slocumb is survived by his wife of 45 years, | ||||||
5 | Mary Kay; his son, Jack; his sisters, Marguerite (Michael) | ||||||
6 | Seymour and Catherine Slocumb; his brothers-in-law, Gerald
| ||||||
7 | (Natalie) and Charles (Leslie) Hilbrich; and numerous nieces | ||||||
8 | and nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
9 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
10 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
11 | Frank G. Slocumb, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
12 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
13 | further
| ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
15 | presented to the family of Frank Slocumb as an expression of | ||||||
16 | our deepest sympathy.
