| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
3 | learn of the death of Quint L. Sherwood of Champaign, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on November 12, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was born on November 22, 1928 in | ||||||
6 | Canton; his parents were Clarence and Mary Smith Sherwood; he | ||||||
7 | married Arlene Sherwood on June 29, 1986 in Champaign; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served in the United States Air | ||||||
9 | Force for 4 years during the Korean Conflict, with one year at | ||||||
10 | Thule Air Force Base in Greenland above the Arctic Circle; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood served as a journeyman electrician | ||||||
12 | and an electronic technician for 50 years for many companies, | ||||||
13 | including the Ohio barge lines' Illinois River division in the | ||||||
14 | late 1940s; he was the owner and operator of Electrical | ||||||
15 | Technician Service in Rantoul into the mid-1960s; he was an | ||||||
16 | engineering technician for the C.S. Johnson Company in | ||||||
17 | Champaign and traveled around the world during the 1970s | ||||||
18 | installing mass-pour concrete plants for highway and dam | ||||||
19 | projects; he also worked as a maintenance electrician for | ||||||
20 | General Motors for many years until his retirement in 1986; and

21 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was a lifelong member of the First |

1 | Baptist Church of Champaign in Savoy; he was also a member of | ||||||
2 | the Champaign Radio Control Club, International Toastmasters, | ||||||
3 | and the Boy Scouts of America's Northern District Arrow Head | ||||||
4 | Council, where he served as district chairman in the early | ||||||
5 | 1960s; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood enjoyed hunting, bowling, golf, | ||||||
7 | building and flying radio-controlled airplanes, and spending | ||||||
8 | time at Panera Bread with his friends; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood was preceded in death by his wife, | ||||||
10 | Arlene, and his half-brother, Harold Nibbling; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Quint Sherwood is survived by his sons, Lou (Sue) | ||||||
12 | Sherwood and Don Sherwood; his daughter, Donna (David) | ||||||
13 | Sherwood-Jackson; his grandchildren, Lee (Ashley) Sherwood, | ||||||
14 | Devin (Leann) Goldenstein, and Laurel (Anthonie) | ||||||
15 | Hartman-Johnson; and his 3 great-grandchildren; therefore, be | ||||||
16 | it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-NINTH GENERAL | ||||||
18 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
19 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Quint L. Sherwood; and | ||||||
20 | be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
