SENATE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
to learn of the death of Willie James Bowdry Jr., who passed
away on September 26, 2004; and
WHEREAS, Willie Bowdry was born to Mary Lucille Starks
Bowdry and Willie James Bowdry Sr. in Steele, Missouri on
December 5, 1950; he graduated from Rock Island High School;
he served in the U.S. Marine Corps; he married Virginia
"Ginny" Tolefree on April 26, 2008; and
WHEREAS, Willie Bowdry worked for John Deere for over 35
years, retiring in 2010; and
WHEREAS, Willie Bowdry will be remembered for his legacy
of love, strength, and dedication; and
WHEREAS, Willie Bowdry was preceded in death by his
parents; his siblings, Willie "Pete" Tucker, Larry R. Bowdry,
Katie M. McBride, and Catherine Moore; his mother-in-law,
Gratha Tolefree; and his other in-laws; and
WHEREAS, Willie Bowdry is survived by his wife, Virginia
Tolefree Bowdry; his brother, Gerald (Shelia) Bowdry; his
children, Marlon Gardner, Davian Giles, Lasondra Carter, and

Tamikka Elliott; seven grandchildren; his sisters-in-law,
Alice (Cornelius) Emory, Elizabeth (Johnny) Price, and
Katherine Tolefree; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins,
and friends; therefore, be it
RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
Willie James Bowdry Jr. and extend our sincere condolences to
his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
