| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of James F. "Jim" Harry of Springfield, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on December 18, 2017; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Jim Harry was born in Quincy on December 30, 1939; | ||||||
| 6 | he graduated from Pittsfield High School and Illinois College; | ||||||
| 7 | he served in the United States Army Reserve and was honorably | ||||||
| 8 | discharged in December of 1964; he married Leora (Thompson) | ||||||
| 9 | Lash on July 15, 1977; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Jim Harry's early career was in radio news | ||||||
| 11 | broadcasting; he moved from covering politics to working in | ||||||
| 12 | state government for Gov. Richard B. Ogilvie; during the last | ||||||
| 13 | years of his career, he worked as the secretary and assistant | ||||||
| 14 | secretary of the Illinois State Senate, retiring in 2004; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Jim Harry served as president of the American | ||||||
| 16 | Society of Legislative Clerks and Secretaries from 1999 to | ||||||
| 17 | 2000; he was a member of the Historic Grace Lutheran Church and | ||||||
| 18 | the YMCA for many years; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Jim Harry is survived by his wife, Leora; his son, | ||||||
| 20 | Scott (Nancy) Harry; his daughters, Michelle (Garrett) | ||||||
| 21 | Campbell and Amy (Mark) Lash Esau; his grandchildren, Michael, | ||||||

| 1 | Whitney, and Luke Harry, Graydon and Graham Campbell, and | ||||||
| 2 | Austin and Marisa Esau; his brothers, Jack (Nancy) and Steve | ||||||
| 3 | (Linda) Harry; and several nieces and a nephew; therefore, be | ||||||
| 4 | it

| 5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDREDTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
| 7 | James F. "Jim" Harry, and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
| 8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
| 9 | further

| 10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 11 | presented to the family of Jim Harry as an expression of our | ||||||
| 12 | deepest sympathy.
