2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Mason Christopher Santiago of New | ||||||
4 | Lenox, who passed away on September 15, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was born to Ski and Shannon | ||||||
6 | (Riemer) Santiago in Joliet on October 18, 2004; he graduated | ||||||
7 | from Providence Catholic High School in 2023, where he was an | ||||||
8 | outstanding and recognized football player; he then attended | ||||||
9 | Saint Xavier University in Chicago, where he played as a | ||||||
10 | linebacker on the football team and majored in sports | ||||||
11 | communication; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Mason Santiago took time to return to Providence | ||||||
13 | Catholic High School after graduating, mentoring players on | ||||||
14 | the football team whenever he had the opportunity to do so; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was an extremely focused and | ||||||
16 | intense individual; he was a fierce competitor and wanted to | ||||||
17 | be the best at his position; whatever he set his mind to doing, | ||||||
18 | he attacked it with 110% effort, never taking shortcuts and | ||||||
19 | always performing in high gear; and

20 | WHEREAS, Mason Santiago was the brother of Cohle Santiago | ||||||
21 | and Sophia Marie Santiago; the grandson of Michael Riemer and |

1 | Sylvia and John Greenan and Richard and Susan Santiago; the | ||||||
2 | great-grandson of Betty J. and the late Donald C. Riemer; and | ||||||
3 | the nephew, cousin, and friend of many; therefore, be it

4 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | ||||||
5 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
6 | Mason Christopher Santiago and extend our sincere condolences | ||||||
7 | to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be | ||||||
