2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of Charles Joseph "Chuck" Zickus Jr. of | ||||||
4 | Palos Hills, who passed away on October 14, 2024; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus, the son of the Charles Joseph | ||||||
6 | Zickus Sr. and Elenore (Masquelet) Zickus, was born on | ||||||
7 | September 19, 1935; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus proudly served as an air traffic | ||||||
9 | controlman and petty officer in the U.S. Navy, where he was | ||||||
10 | stationed aboard the U.S.S. Lexington CVA-16 during the Korean | ||||||
11 | War; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus continued his dedication to public | ||||||
13 | service in various roles throughout his life, including as | ||||||
14 | commissioner of the North Palos Fire Protection District, | ||||||
15 | deputy sheriff of Cook County, and plant manager for the | ||||||
16 | Prudential Building in Chicago; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus was a devoted and supportive husband | ||||||
18 | to his wife, Anne (Greenhoff) Zickus, who was a prominent | ||||||
19 | leader in the Illinois House of Representatives, where she | ||||||
20 | served with dedication for over a decade; he remained her | ||||||
21 | loving and steadfast partner throughout her career and life; |

2 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus was a loving father, grandfather, | ||||||
3 | and great-grandfather and a beloved member of his family; and
| ||||||
4 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus will be remembered for his | ||||||
5 | remarkable sense of humor, for always bringing joy to those | ||||||
6 | around him, and for playing the role of Santa Claus with | ||||||
7 | enthusiasm and love; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus's legacy of service, humor, and love | ||||||
9 | will live on in the memories of all who knew him; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus was preceded in death by his | ||||||
11 | parents; his brother, William Zickus; and his sisters-in-law, | ||||||
12 | Joan Beasley and Adrienne Warneke; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Chuck Zickus is survived by his wife of 66 years, | ||||||
14 | Anne; his daughter, Kathleen (Zickus-Martens), and his | ||||||
15 | son-in-law, Terrence O'Shea; his son, Charles Joseph Zickus | ||||||
16 | III; his grandchildren, Matthew (Krystal) Martens, Samantha | ||||||
17 | Martens, Tony Hall, Charles Joseph "Chaz" Zickus IV, Eli | ||||||
18 | Zickus, Ivy Zickus, and Jule Zickus; his great-grandson, | ||||||
