1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | ||||||
3 | to learn of the death of David Kent Nelson of East Moline, who | ||||||
4 | passed away on October 11, 2022; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, David Nelson was born in Moline to Einar Nels and | ||||||
6 | Mildred Elizabeth (Olson) Nelson on August 21, 1946; he | ||||||
7 | graduated from Moline High School in 1964 and attended Black | ||||||
8 | Hawk College; he served with the U.S. Navy; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, David Nelson retired from the Illinois Department | ||||||
10 | of Human Services as a caseworker in 2005; he served in | ||||||
11 | communications for the U.S. Department of Defense operations | ||||||
12 | during the Apollo XI mission, the first moon landing flight, | ||||||
13 | in July of 1969; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, David Nelson was a member of the Fraternal Order | ||||||
15 | of Eagles and the VFW; he was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, | ||||||
16 | Chicago Cubs, Fighting Illini, and Boston Celtics; he loved to | ||||||
17 | golf and play pool and always was the first to help in any | ||||||
18 | situation; he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and | ||||||
19 | brother; and

20 | WHEREAS, David Nelson is survived by his wife of 34 years, | ||||||
21 | Joneva Nelson; his children, Nicholaus and Daniel Hansen; his |

| |||||||
1 | sister, Phyllis Wilson; his brother, Dr. Don Nelson; his | ||||||
2 | grandchildren, Shane, Angelo, Brady, Jacob, and Andrew; three | ||||||
3 | great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and | ||||||
4 | cousins; therefore, be it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED SECOND GENERAL | ||||||
6 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | ||||||
7 | David Kent Nelson and extend our sincere condolences to his | ||||||
8 | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | ||||||
9 | further
| ||||||
10 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
11 | presented to the family of David Nelson as an expression of our | ||||||
12 | deepest sympathy.
